The pandemic has resulted in a significant change in how people consume content, with a growing preference for OTT platforms over traditional theatres. Sri Crazyminds, speaking at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival (BISFF), emphasized the shift towards mobile viewing and the challenges of attracting viewers to the big screen. He noted that people's attention spans have decreased, making it difficult to motivate them to go out and watch a film in theaters. Without compelling content, audiences are more inclined to wait for OTT releases. The success of films now depends on strong content and effective marketing, as well as the competition from other regional cinema industries. Releasing films today requires substantial investment, and the abundance of choices available can lead to audience confusion.Around 400 movies are submitted to the censor board for approval, and only about 200 of them make it to the theaters for release. I believe that these factors collectively represent the core of the issue.
